JabonMan Eufros Ylang Ylang Shaving Soap


Ylang Ylang is a complex floral scent with overtones of patchouli, notes of orange blossom and subtle hints of sandalwood and jasmine. This soap utilizes Manuel's new soap base and, it is excellent. Although a thirsty soap, the resulting lather provides slickness and glide without irritation making it a great soap for straight razors and double edge razors alike.


Manuel is a master at blending scents and he always uses natural essential oils.

I recently placed a large order with Pasteur. The Eufros Ylang Ylang was actually the soap I was most excited to try out. Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed.

The good: it is an excellent performer, no problems whatsoever there.

The bad: It is one of the worst smelling soaps I've ever used. I love Ylang Ylang, I am not getting any Ylang Ylang when I smell. The other scent notes that should be present, patchouli and orange are also absent. The best description I can offer is that it smells like an old garbage can that is stored near a barnyard in the sun. I once had the experience of smelling a Bulbophyllum orchid in bloom and it was pretty close to that smell, which is meant to attract flies.

The other Eufros soap that I ordered: Dama de Noche, smells amazing and the night jasmine that is supposed to be there is the dominant but light smell.

I am willing to concede that I may have simply gotten a bad batch, and if that is the case, I'd be willing to try it again, but as it stands, this soap is headed to my "reject" bin.

This soap is an elite performer. Provides an ultra slippery, irritation free shave with nice post shave face feel. Only four stars because I didn’t care much for the scent.
